Glass-ceramic requires a completely different milling strategy. Never apply hard force with a ball bur — this causes bur breakage or premature wear. The correct approach is to use the bur's lateral surface for roughing, then finish with a fine bur. Observe the following precautions:

1. Light Feed: Apply light, even pressure. Never press hard, squeeze, or force the bur into the workpiece.
2. Sufficient Cooling: Use water cooling throughout. Dry milling is strictly prohibited.
3. Steady Movement: Move at a steady, consistent pace. Do not dwell in one position.
4. Directional Milling: Mill along the ceramic contour. Avoid lateral sawing motions.
5. Incremental Removal: Remove material in small passes. Never attempt large cuts in a single pass.
6. Avoid Vibration: Secure the workpiece firmly, ensure bur concentricity, and prevent vibration that could crack the ceramic.
7. Match Grit to Stage: Use coarse grit for bulk removal, medium for shaping, and fine grit for edge refinement — step by step.
8. Protect Edges: Slow down and reduce pressure near edges, thin walls, and sharp corners to prevent chipping.
9. Replace Worn Burs: Replace burs immediately when dull or when particles shed. Dull burs damage ceramics.
10. Final Polishing: Polish thoroughly after milling to remove grinding marks and improve strength and surface finish.
